Safaricom and Tusker Amongst the List of Top 10 Brand Africa 100 Richest and Most Popular African Brands

The annual ranking of the most valuable and admired brands in sub-Sahara Africa, Brand Africa 100, was recently announced at the Nairobi Securities Exchange.

Brand Africa 100, was established in 2011 and is the first of its kind to rank the richest and most popular African Brands.
South Africa leads the charge with most brands on the list accounting for 91 percent while Kenya is second with 5 percent followed by Nigeria with 3 percent. The three countries make up the top three African countries while combined they make 99 percent of the most valued African brands.
The list is made up of electronics (17%), beverages (14%), auto manufacturers (14%), apparel (12%) and telecommunications (10%), of the top 100 brands in Africa, 23 were African. (Forbes)
On the regional perspective, the most admired regional brands were; MTN (Southern Africa), Glo (West Africa), Tusker (East Africa) and Marsavco (Central Africa).
Meanwhile the most valuable regional brands were; MTN (Southern Africa), Dangote (West Africa), Safaricom (East Africa) and Marsavco (Central Africa).
The most admired African nations mentioned spontaneously by Africans were Nigeria (West Africa), Kenya (East Africa) and South Africa (Southern Africa).
