Safaricom and Airtel Kenya Engaged in Price Wars for the iPhone 6, See Who Has the Better Deal

The price wars are back again. But this time they’re not about data or call rates, instead it’s the highly coveted iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that take center stage in this war.

Just a week after Airtel started selling the iPhone 6s Safaricom have also followed suit and have added the iPhones to their stock.

So the question is, who has the better deal? Well let’s take a look and maybe we can decide.

iPhone Model                    Safaricom Price                              Airtel Price

iPhone 6 16GB                  KES 84,999.00                              KES 85,999.00
iPhone 6 64GB                  none                                               KES 95,999.00
iPhone 6+ 16GB                KES 94,999.00                              KES 95,999.00
iPhone 6+ 64GB                none                                               KES 105,999.00
iPhone Model                    Safaricom Free Data Offer              Airtel Free Data Offer
iPhone Model                    Safaricom Free Insurance Offer       Airtel Free Insurance Offer
iPhone 6 16GB                  none                                               2 Years Free Insurance
iPhone 6 64GB                  none                                               2 Years Free Insurance
iPhone 6+ 16GB                none                                               2 Years Free Insurance
iPhone 6+  64GB               none                                               2 Years Free Insurance

For Safaricom it’s clear that their main aim was to lure in the potential customers with lower prices but Airtel have gone for value added services offering warranties and a good deal on insurance.

Price wars on devices are not a new thing for the two telecoms giants as the same was witnessed earlier this year when the Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship phone was launched in the country.
