Meru County leaders have banned
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, from holding rallies in
Meru County saying they are inciting the public against elected leaders.
Addressing a Press Conference in Meru
town on Saturday, Meru Governor, Peter Munya and his Senator, Kiraitu
Murungi said the region has over 1 million registers voters and the Jubilee
Government is discriminating them against other regions.
Kiraitu, who was the chief convener
of the meeting, said the Meru community are tired of being used by the Jubilee
Government to fill their voting baskets but when it comes to development there
are left behind.
Kiraitu cited the ongoing rural
roads construction countrywide saying the Jubilee Government is yet to
construct any road in Meru for the last one year it has been in power.
He threatened to go to court and sue
the Jubilee Government over discrimination.
Other leaders who attended the Press
Conference include Igembe South MP, Mithinka Linturi and Meru Women
Representative, Florence Kajuju.
