Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has
exuded confidence that the Okoa Kenya
referendum will succeed once put to a vote.
Speaking in Kisii where he presided
over a fundraiser in aid of a Lutheran Church, Raila noted that his referendum
was popular among Kenyans and that he will beat President Uhuru Kenyatta and
his Deputy, William Ruto, hands down.
However, he said should the unexpected
happen that Uhuru/ Ruto beat him again, he will accept the result and shake
their hands because that is what true democrats and gentlemen do.
“We will accept defeat if Uhuru/Ruto
beat us and the Okoa Kenya initiative
fails but we are confident of clinching victory because the push is popular
among Kenyans”, said Raila Odinga.
At the same time, the former PM faulted
Uhuru/Ruto for lying to Kenyans that the referendum to increase money to
counties will raise the cost of living.
“Taxes will not increase if resources
are devolved to Counties because it will help create employment,” he said.
