SHOULD THE KENYAN MEDIA STOP GIVING TWEEPS NEWS FROM SOCIAL MEDIA?

This is a hard question. With social media, many people are getting news very fast. The reality is that citizen journalism is outdoing tradition media and it is quite time the media guys did something to up their game or remain irrelevant. The question is whether the media should report to Tweeps about something that happened on Twitter considering the fact that most of these tweeps might have seen the story and got the facts on their own.

The Kenyan media is really trying considering the fact that most of them are getting hot news from social media but as times keeps moving something big needs to be done.

We should not allow the media to control social media and blogosphere because that will lead to propaganda and inaccurate information

It is hard to understand what the media is up to but for Gods sake, dont allow them to control the blogospehere because most of these media guys are just there to make money. It is all about the profits. But it is good to note that many people never trust what the media says nowadays because most media houses can be easily bought by oppressive regimes !

That explains why social media is a hot market for real time news because the news is first hand and not manipulated for reasons well known to the media guys. The good thing with social media is that you see the real time unedited news as opposed to the media that must edit news professionally . Who doesnt want unedited news ? People will always log in to their social media accounts or google to find the unedited version of the story from bloggers.

As Kenyans keep joining the online community due to easy access of internet and cheap gadgets, the media may be rendered irrelevant by trying to feed Kenyans with their edited stories that they might have seen elsewhere on social media or blogs.
