England manager, Roy Hodgson, has welcomed Danny Welbeck’s move from Manchester United to Arsenal.

The 23-year old had fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie getting the nod ahead of him.

The transfer deadline day arrival of Radamel Falcao sealed his fate.

Speaking about the move, the gaffer believes that Welbeck has made a "good" decision.

Hodgson told reporters:

"The biggest bonus is for him of course.

"When you are player of his calibre and you find yourself at Man United with such enormous competition for places that you don't always get the starts you would like, I think that it's good for him that he has gone to a club where he will hopefully get more starts and playing time.

"I'm pleased for him and because I select Danny all the time I obviously think that Arsenal have signed a good player."

Welbeck scored 29 goals in 142 appearances for the Red Devils.
