Image result for LOUIS VAN GAALLouis van Gaal has insisted that Manchester United are serious title contenders this season despite their dismal start to the campaign.

The Red Devils finished seventh last season which culminated in David Moyes being sacked after just ten months into his six-year deal at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal was appointed to help revive the club’s fortunes but his poor start to his united career has already raised eye brows.

However, the Dutch tactician is confident of winning the title in his first year in the Premier League.

He told reporters: "We can be the champions in my first year, yes.

"Maybe you shall laugh. Also in my former clubs I have started like this - it's not big news or different.

"As a manager you have to survive because nowadays the fans are asking for results and that's the question - 'can I receive enough time to do all the steps we have to do?' Maybe you can support Louis van Gaal when you believe in him."

Van Gaal has won league title in Spain with Barcelona, Germany with Bayern Munich and Holland with Ajax.
