The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 display has emerged as the best of the best display in a recent Display Mate test.
Display Mate Technologies, a firm that specializes in display
calibration and evaluation, ranked the Galaxy Note 4 first from a pool
that was composed of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, Samsung Galaxy Tab S
10.5, Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, iPhone 6 Plus and iPad Air 2.
This is now the first time for a Samsung product to scoop the Display mate award. The Galaxy S5 was the holder of the same award for a couple of months before it was snatched away by the iPhone 6.
The award is based on three metrics namely Full Gamut Color Accuracy,
Skin Tone Color Accuracy, Organic Color Accuracy, Blue Region Color
Accuracy, White Point Color Accuracy. The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 had a
perfect score on all four of the metrics.
Display Mate describes Samsung as a leader in color display owing to
their OLED displays that have a very wide native Color Gamut. The use of
Quantum Dots will be necessary in order to implement wide Color Gamuts
on LCD display.
