Back when the Windows Phone 8 operating system first came out, Nokia Lumia owners along with most of us thought that the Windows phones which were previously come with Windows 7, would be upgraded to the new software just like most Android phones and iPhones.
So you can imagine the outrage when owners of Lumia devices heard they would not be receiving the Windows 8 upgrade. In fact you don’t need to imagine, here are some of the reactions;
I just watched the Windows Phone 8
announcement and learned that the Lumia will not be upgradeable to WP8,
it will more or less get a skin with the new live tiles and a few other
features... at the end of the day unless one of you responds and
convinces me to stay with Microsoft Windows Phone, Nokia Lumia or Att
wireless I will just wash my hands of all three companies and move over
to Verizon.
But it’s a new regime now. Microsoft have taken over and their new
CEO Satya Nadella is implementing some game changing strategies to bring
the company back to the top.Recently a Lumia fan posed the question “Will you update to Windows 10?” hoping that Microsoft would not repeat the same mistake twice and going by their response it is likely they learned their lesson from their past with Windows 7.
According to the response from the official Lumia account, all Windows 8 devices will be upgraded to the mobile version of Windows 10 as soon as it’s ready for release.
Lumia however did not give any details as to when the update will arrive.
