Kenyans Win RaceS in Flint
Julius Kogo of Kenya won the Crim 10-mile race in Flint, Mich., for the
fifth straight year. Kogo’s unofficial time was 46:35. The win earned
Kogo $5,000. Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton of Kenya, who won last year, was
the first woman to finish. Her unofficial time was 54:26. Family members
and supporters of a former Marine convicted of criminal charges in Iran
ran in the Flint races to honor him and publicize his plight. Amir
Hekmati was arrested in August 2011 and sentenced to death for spying.
Iran’s Supreme Court annulled the sentence. He later was convicted of
“cooperating with hostile governments” and sentenced to 10 years.
