Kenya has over the years been humbly blessed with gifted footballers dating back from the 70's and 80's. Players such as Peter Dao, Joe Kadenge, Austin Oduor and Elijah Lidonde marked the golden era for Kenyan football.

Mike Okoth, father to Lille and Liverpool striker Divock Origi and John 'Mo' Muiruri among others opened the doors for Kenyan footballers to learn and ply their trade in various European leagues.

This saw an emergence of talented individuals such as Denis Oliech, Mc Donald Mariga, who was the first East African to win the Champions League with Inter Milan, and his brother Southampton's Victor Wanyama who went on to win the Scottish league with Celtic.

Kenya can now boost to having yet another player who plays for German champions Bayern Munich. Bernard Mwarome is a German born Kenyan who plays for the Bavarian outfit under 19 category. Born in 1997, the midfielder has been with the team since last summer and with the guidance of coach Heiko Vogel the signs have been nothing but promising.
