The Kikuyu Council of Elders has urged Kenyans to start calling Deputy President, William Ruto, “the President in waiting” because all Kenyans have resolved to support his Presidency after President Uhuru Kenyatta ends his tenure in 2022.

Speaking at Blue Post Hotel in Thika town on Tuesday, Council Chairman, Wachira Kago, said the Kikuyu community, which is the largest tribe in Kenya, has resolved to support Ruto’s Presidency and all tribes must follow suit to avoid being left in the cold in 2022.

“We have resolved to support the candidature of Ruto in 2022. All Kenyans must support him if they want to be in the right side of history,” Wachira said.

The Council also castigated former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, for calling himself the “People’s President” yet he is only an opposition leader, who is leading a tribal caliphate called Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

“How can a paramount village chief call himself the People’s President? That is an insult to democracy in Kenya,” the chairman said.
