The governor of Mandera, Ali Roba warned of more Alshabaab attacks inside Kenya. Ali Roba said the authorities in Mandera have some intelligence information that Alshabaab militias are trying to wage attacks in Kenya's soil soon.
On the line to Mandera Ali Roba told Nation Newspaper from Nairobi that there might be very little time before Alshabaab hit the border town of Mandera.
On 15th October 2014, Ali Roba survived an attempt on his life after his entourage was targeted with explosives in the middle of Mandera township, at a time when he was heading to his office.
However, alongside the fear from Alshabaab people of Mandera are frequently affected by recurrent clan clashes especially clashes between Garre and Dagodia communities.
The epicentre of the clashes between those two communities is Ramo town where those communities fight over farm lands, pasture, water and even leadership.
