Kenyans and the world are waiting with bathed breath if Britain’s Jaguar Land Rover will take legal actions to protect its brand after China’s little-known carmaker LandWind unveiled a brazen copy of Range Rover Evoque.
The new car was unveiled at the Guangzhou motor show in China last week, and it looks like an updated model of the UK’s popular Range Rover Evoque.

general outline and body shape, radiator grill, lights and the silver logo across the front edge of its bonnet are all reminiscent of the British bestselling off-roader. The creepy design immediately attracted an angry response from Jaguar Land Rover.
“The fact that this kind of copying is ongoing in China is very disappointing. The intellectual property (IP) is owned by Jaguar Land Rover and if you break that IP then you are in breach of international regulations,” Jaguar Land Rover chief executive, Dr Ralf Speth told Autocar Magazine.
Kenya is a known destination for China-made electronic gadgets especially smartphones and other mobile handsets. Priced at around KES 1.98 million, soon you could see the monster in the streets of Nairobi pending the action that Jaguar Land Rover will take.
